About Paul.

I am a New Media Designer / Developer based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK. I've been working with digital media and web design for around 10 years, and in that time have managed to dip into just about every area of the business from graphic design to web design, 3D animation, interactive media, digital video production and much, much more.

My extensive experience in e-commerce was gained working for 5 years managing the online presence of a retailer of professional magic tricks, books and DVD's (yes, I do a bit of magic too!). In those 5 years the company grew from a small shop based in Newcastle Upon Tyne to one of the most successful online magic shops not only in the UK, but in the world.

This puts me in a unique position. Unlike other web designers who simply design web sites for a living, I have spent considerable time on the other side of the fence working day in day out at a successful mail order company.

I tend to favour clean, functional designs, with a slightly modern professional edge. I design all of my web sites to current W3C standards wherever possible, and they are all optimized to make them search engine friendly. My goal when designing a web site is to make something that is both simple to use and inspires trust. This is more important than anything when building E-commerce web sites. The customer must be able to find what they are looking for and be able to buy it quickly and easily, and they must trust that the site they are buying it from is a reputable company.

I'm not into filling a site with Flash animation, although I do think some strategically placed Flash elements can work well at times.

I pride myself on offering a professional service. My background in retail means I have a strong customer service ethos. Overall I am looking forward to working as part of the Limesharp team and their many customers.
